    Escape from Hell

How do you extricate yourself from a war that should have never been started?

I wish I had the answer to that question. Build a time machine perhaps. The shortsightedness of the people who started this mess is certainly apparent now that we have been at it for eight years and it is clear that there is no end in sight.

Time machine aside, I personally can see only four options for Afghanistan, none of them are viable.

    1. The pretend it didn't happen option:
Walk away. Let the country go where it will and deal with the result the way is should have been dealt with.

    2. The put it in a drawer option:
Vacuum pack Afghanistan and Pakistan together and economically isolate them and anyone who does business with them until the situation works itself out.

    3. The Republican option:
Commit every able bodied soldier to the fight in Afghanistan and see how many more of our own people we can loose in the process.

    4. The talk about it and do nothing option:
This seems to be where Washington is right now.

Personally, I would go for option 2 as the lesser of the available evils, if I can't have that, then option 1. In my opinion fighting a war is a lot like being sued, it is not about winning, it is all about loosing less than the other guy.

Life is a far too precious commodity to waste on war.

I think we should declare war against Iran and North Korea.  Not only are both countries absolute evils that need to be wiped off the face of the earth, but it will help our economy just like entering WWII did.

If you think this is a war that should have never been started, I think you forgot that 9/11 actually happened.

I think Option 2 should apply in Obama and the democrats' war against capitalism and prosperity.  The federal government should vacuum pack the private sector and economically isolate it and anyone who does business with it.

@Chibi_Son_Gokou - As I have said before, it seems the Republicans wouls rather kill people with our tax money that save lives.

As I recall - the war is against terrorism, not Afghanistan.  Based on 9/11 we should have invaded Saudi Arabia since that is where the bulk of the terrorists came from, but you seem to have forgotten that.

Just as above, you seem to forget what has happened.  But then, I am sure that you would happily pay the person who ran your company into bankruptcy hundreds of millions of dollars in bonus money.  That is what the GOP keeps pushing for.  Money for the rich and no personal responsibility for their actions.  Kenneth Lay and Jeffery Skilling are probably your heroes and you are probably cheering for the Merrill Lynch executives who got 3.6 Billion dollars in bonuses for driving the company into bankruptcy.

@erehwyna - Way to stereotype.  While we're at it, I can make the same argument and say that Bernie Madoff and Charlie Rangel are your personal heros.

  • erehwyna

@Chibi_Son_Gokou - Sorry - at no time have I ever supported the deregulation and lack of oversite that allowed Madoff to rip off billions, (unlike a certain group who shall remain nameless).  As for Rangel, I am not surprised that you would bring a totally irrelevant person unless of course your buddy Rush has been talking him up as Cheney commanded.  I could just as easily throw Tom Delay into the mix - but what the heck, any Republican who can wiggle his behind like that on national TV deserves to be cut some slack.

Besides, you are once again off topic.

  • Chibi_Son_Gokou

@erehwyna - But you do seem to support big business guys who pour billions of dollars to finance democrat campaigns, like Madoff and George Soros.

And I'm not the one who originally went off topic.

@Chibi_Son_Gokou - First, My apologies, I didn't realize that Iran, North Korea, and "Obama and the democrats' war against capitalism and prosperity" was in my original thread.

I would ask you which big business guys I support, but since I don't support big business in any form, it would be a foolish question, and once again proves that you grab your data out of your nether regions.

    Once again, game over.

  • Chibi_Son_Gokou

Which big business guys do you support?  Don't you support General Electric?  Without them, you wouldn't have the cable news network you rely on for information.  Plus they manufacture those swirly light bulbs you take pride in.

On a side note, the majority of Fortune 500 companies are ran by democrat CEOs who lobby for big government involvement in industry.

  • erehwyna

@Chibi_Son_Gokou - Hrmm - actually many of the lights in my house are LED, no "swirly" stuff or mercury. Do you really believe that a majority of the richest people in the country are liberals!?  WOW!  You are paranoid.  Have you considered seeking help?

Wrong on two counts, (as usual).  Besides, the game was over, no wonder you are having trouble playing.  Time to move on.

  • Chibi_Son_Gokou

Yes, most wealthy people are liberals.  Just take a look at the richest states: California, New York, Massachusettes, etc.  Barney Frank and the execs at AIG are included in their ilk.  Then you have all the the Hollywood celebs and the Harvard elites.  Plus, while blacks and hispanics mostly vote democrat, most of them are socially conservative.
