Sorry about the absence - life, on occasion, gives us a wake up call and we have to leave the comfort of our preconceptions in move into the real world for a while before once again curling up in our coccoons of rationalized comfort.

I have, however, been following the actions of the G "NO" P and the nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor with some amusement.  It will be interesting to see what emerges out of the self-marginalization of the conservatives to accomodate the actual majority of moderates in this country that they are trying so hard to alienate.

George W Bush on the other hand is doing the first intelligent thing that he has ever done in his life, he is keeping his mouth shut and his head down.

Trying so hard to alienate moderates?  The GOP is FULL of moderates.  Otherwise, they wouldn't have something as asinine as a Listening Tour.

Just admit that you're a liberal.

  • erehwyna

@Chibi_Son_Gokou - Correction, the GOP HAD some moderates, all of whom were driven away by the black and white mindset of the ultra right-wing minority that took control of the party.

  • Chibi_Son_Gokou

I don't know where you're getting this information.  If the GOP is alienating any group of people, it's conservatives.  Most of the republicans holding office are saying "The days of Reagan are over" and "We need to reach out to moderates and independents by crossing over the aisle and holding listening tours, blah blah blah."  The only people who think that republicans are too conservative even now are left-wingers like those who run prime time shows on MSNBC.

@Chibi_Son_Gokou - Hrmmm - I get my information form the news and from the GOP itself.  For those who only listen to Limbaugh reality has little to do the facts, so I am not surprised by your response at all.

  • Chibi_Son_Gokou

What news would that be?  It certainly isn't The Wall Street Journal

  • Chibi_Son_Gokou

Speaking of getting your information from the "news", do you also believe that the shooter at the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC was a "right-wing extremist", even though he was an anti-republican 9/11 conspiracy theorist?

    What's with these double standards?

  • Chibi_Son_Gokou

Furthermore, you claim that it's a problem that republicans are alienating moderates (which is blatantly false), but what about the democrats?  Don't you think that the democrats are alienating moderates by continuously moving so far left that who they nominated to be president makes Hugo Chavez look like Ronald Reagan?  When the democrats lost in 2002 and 2004, did they make a claim that they needed to reach out to more moderates or become more moderate themselves?  No, instead they decided they needed to move farther to the left.  The Democrat Party demonizes moderates in their party like Joe Libermann, whereas moderates are running all around the Republican Party (i.e. John McCain, Colin Powell, Lindsey Graham, Jeb Bush, Bob Dole, Newt Gingrich, and even Arlen Specter before he crossed over).

Why must there be double standards?

  • Chibi_Son_Gokou

One more thing, you have an Ann Coulter advertisement on your blog, LOL.

  • erehwyna

@Chibi_Son_Gokou - There are double standards because everyone has their own agendas,  Surely you, as a fine upstanding member of the party of the filibuster, would understand that.

I like the term 'demonize', and I can see from the actual statistics how many of the democrats are changing parties due to their 'demonization'.  Oh wait, sorry those are members of the GOP switching, never mind.

ROFL!!  COLLIN POWELL!  Running the GOP!!!  WHERE DO YOU GET THIS?  ITS HILLARIOUS!

I love Ann Coulter, she is part of the comedy team of Cheney, Limbaugh, and Coulter.  Hannity isn't funny, he is just someone who was born with no tracable connection between his mouth and his brain.

  • Chibi_Son_Gokou

I see far more double standards coming from the left than from the right, especially in areas such as affirmative action, foreign policy, crime, poverty, and education.

I only recall Arlen Specter switching over to become a democrat, but that's not really significant seeing that he is a very liberal politician.

Point out where I said Colin Powel was running the GOP.  All I did was group him in with a number of "moderate" republicans.

Yes, I agree that Limbaugh and Coulter are funny.  Unlike David Letterman and Keith Olbermann, who act like bitter angry potsmoking kids.  You know, the type who get their asses kicked by grown men?
